Obelisk Home at the Inspired Commerce Building presents Paradigms: The Art of Mary Hamilton, plus the annual Habitat for Humanity Birdhouse Auction. “The paintings in my Paradigms series are intended to be allegorical studies that reflect and explore the process of forced, untimely or unwanted change. The chosen common objects in the compositions symbolize the subliminal meanings understood by our own confined perspective – the comfortable room of our own limited knowledge. The objects appear to be confined in an inescapable interior space with a structured, yet confusing pattern. The separation created by juxtaposed, natural backgrounds suggests a feeling of surreal freedom and a need to escape from self-contained truths.

“The viewer is invited to break away from a pre-determined response, but not without feeling an inner struggle of tense opposition, inescapable fate or the confusion of an unaccepted fact. These images seek to explain the power and influence of our own incomplete axioms and the significance of the changing landscape of the human mind.”
